Bovine punk rock
The Band
Almost a Cow is an alt-rock band waiting to become a full cow one day.
Our music draws inspiration from 90s alternative and power pop — something you used to hear on Cartoon Network at 2am.
Almost a Cow began in 2022 as a solo producer project — just one person writing songs alone in a bedroom, unsure what to do with them.
By 2025, those bedroom recordings needed a stage. That's when Adam (vocals), Etienne (bass), and Todd (drums) entered the picture, transforming a solo experiment into a full-fledged band.
Since forming, they've been tearing through Houston's live circuit — from intimate sets at Dan Electro's to festival stages at Solarflare. And they're just getting started.
The name comes from a Korean proverb:
"먹고 누우면 소된다."
Roughly translated: "If you eat and lie down, you'll turn into a cow" — a warning to the youth about laziness.
The band's founder, admittedly guilty of this habit, once thought:
"I must be almost a cow by now."
The name stuck.
